“What we play is life” Louis Armstrong.

“Satchmocracy has done it again! Miles Davis once famously said, “You know you can’t play anything on a horn that Louis hasn’t played, i mean even modern.” The entire Satchmocracy project really makes Miles’s words come true. In song after song, Jérôme Etcheberry and his crew of marvelous musicians take Louis Armstrong’s original trumpet solos and vocals! and place them in the middle of all kinds of swinging and even modern settings and the solos always sound fresh and inspired ! More than a novelty, the state of Satchmocracy is one of love and affection and immense virtuosity, each musician retains their own identity in their solos but come together as one to make Armstrong come alive in song after song. Etcheberry deserves a lot of credit for the surprising grooves, tempos, and voicings he employs on the group’s second album. Hearing Armstrong’s solos backed by organ and electric guitar is quite thrilling. Satchmocracy is the perfect Louis Armstrong tribute for the 21st century and beyond !”
