Avec un CV collectif qui pourrait faire office de dictionnaire du jazz traditionnel contemporain, le groupe s’immerge dans l’ambiance du célèbre Onyx Club. C’est dans ce lieu mythique qu’ont eu lieu certains des enregistrements les plus fascinants et les plus swinguants du New York du milieu des années 30 : ceux réalisés par le fabuleux ensemble de Stuff Smith. Musicien qui compte parmi les voix les plus distinctives du jazz et parmi les plus grands violonistes de l’histoire.
On ne présente plus Tcha Limberger. Multi-instrumentiste et chanteur, lauréat de nombreux prix, acclamé et très apprécié du public. Il est célèbre dans le monde du jazz mais également dans celui des musiques du monde, il est l’un des figures les plus importantes de la musique folklorique des Carpates tout en étant reconnu au niveau mondial dans le jazz pour ses improvisations innovantes et son chant puissant et swinguant.
Jerome Etcheberry sort tout juste du succès de son hommage plébiscité au grand maître de la trompette Louis Armstrong, Satchmocracy. Stuff Smith a souvent cité Armstrong comme son influence principale et Etcheberry, sans doute le trompettiste européen le plus exaltant dans ce style, appose sa marque d’excellence sur ce projet avec son habituelle énergie, son timing et sa sonorité hors pair.
Il est difficile d’imaginer un ensemble sans Dave Kelbie et Sébastien Girardot pour compléter ce cercle musical. Cette section rythmique très respectée a propulsé de nombreux projets sur les scènes principales des festivals du monde entier. Notamment Django à la Créole et Don Vappie & Jazz Créole. Salué internationalement pour la flexibilité et la variété de son swing et la solidité de son accompagnement, la description que fait Tcha de ce bi-nôme de longue date semble encore plus appropriée dans ce contexte : “La Rolls Royce des sections rythmiques”.

Tcha Limberger needs little introduction. Award winning multi-instrumentalist and vocalist acclaimed and much loved across musical genres, celebrated within the jazz and world/folk music worlds equally as a singer and instrumentalist. One of the most important figures in folk music of the Carpathian basin as well as being a prominent figure in the jazz world known for world class original improvisations and powerful swinging vocals.
Jerome Etcheberry is fresh from the success of his widely celebrated homage to the great trumpet master Louis Armstrong, Satchmocracy. Stuff smith cited Armstrong as his primary influence and Etcheberry, probably Europe’s most exalted trumpeter, stamps his mark of excellence firmly on this project with his customary exquisite tone, timing and energy.
It’s hard to imagine a drumless ensemble without Dave Kelbie and Sebastien Girardot completing the musical circle. This highly respected rhythm section has performed with numerous projects on main stages of festivals across the globe. Not least Django a la Creole and Don Vappie & Jazz Creole. Lauded universally for their flexibility & variety of swing and the solidity of their accompaniment, Tcha’s description of this long-standing and proven bi-nome seems even more appropriate in this setting: “The Rolls Royce of Rhythm Sections”.
